I woke up at 5am in the hostel to hear wind howling through the windows and rain slamming against the panes. It turned out later there'd been storms that had taken the power out at the Observatory. I tried to curl up and go back to sleep, but couldn't find quite enough warm bits of bed, so got up in the end. Three hours later, I was standing by the Observatory with bright sunshine and clear skies all around, except for a distant rainy spot with a rainbow. Coming up here again at dusk, there were swathes of misty cloud hanging over the hills, but with one single burst of sunbeams through them like golden arrows. Now it's just settled down to plain old raining on and off, which I find quite comforting.
