Regrets

This morning, for no particular reason, I was considering the things I regret about my life so far:

1. I should have been nicer to my friends and relations. I can think of ways I behaved badly towards any one of the people who matter to me.

2. I have wasted many, many hours on pointless worrying and put myself under a lot of unnecessary stress.

3. I have not been as open as I might have been towards strangers and acquaintances, and so I may have missed chances to be friends with some great people.

4. I stuffed up my particle physics final exam, which possibly meant I got a worse degree.

5. I once took a computer game disk to review and kept the disk but failed to deliver the review.

6. I let myself get overweight and unfit.

I guess those could be a lot worse. It's quite a useful exercise, since it tells me how I need to act differently in future to avoid more regrets. Be nicer to the people who I care about; relax and take things a bit less seriously; be more friendly to people I don't know; honour commitments; eat a little less chocolate. And forget about exams I sat six years ago.
