Flying the rainbow flag
Jul. 5th, 2008 11:19 pmTim and I accidentally went to Gay Pride today, which was cool. I've got a monstrous cold, so wasn't feeling up to much, but we went into town to visit a couple of stores on Oxford and Regent Streets, and then went to get bubble tea down near Leicester square. Fairly far away from the epicentre, I noticed in quick succession a couple of guys kissing and then a cafe with a crowd of very well-dressed men sitting outside in the sun, mostly in pairs. I remarked to Tim that it might be Gay Pride, and he thought I was jumping to conclusions, but four or five rainbow flags later, he conceded I had a point. We walked through Soho and Chinatown, where the carnival atmosphere was very much alive, and it was all pretty groovy. An auspicious day to go for bubble tea.
