I quite like working late at night, listening to things like Storms in Africa by Enya and To kiss or not to kiss by Richard Gibbs on repeat. I like the feeling of being alone, but knowing that somewhere out there in the world are people like me, alternating between work and daydreaming. I might have a soulmate who is propping their chin on their hand and gazing out of the window, painting the moon in with the mind's eye, or trying to fold a paper crane out of a post-it note, or I might be unique. Either way, I am comforted by the connection I feel to the other people out there spending their evening in wakeful solitude.
