"The more precise the measurement of position, the more imprecise the measurement of momentum, and vice versa. In the most extreme case, absolute precision of one variable would entail absolute imprecision regarding the other." -- Werner Heisenburg

I got lost again today. I have been living in this house on a most-of-the-time basis for over three months, and yet, returning from a trip into town, I found myself entirely unable to locate it. I stood there, feeling increasingly puzzled and wondering whether I was in the wrong street, for several minutes. When I finally saw the house, it was directly across the road from me, and it still took me a good few seconds of internal debate to decide it really was the right house.

Last time this happened, I had been living in a flat for almost a year, and the walk home from work, which I did at least once a day during this time, only took one single turning. On leaving work late one night, I somehow managed to take the wrong turning and wandered around for a while feeling thoroughly confused and shaken.

Is this what comes of knowing my momentum, or am I just getting old?
